PES2010 Rumours surfaceAND SO IT BEGINS…Hit the jump to find out the latest rumours on PES 2010!It’s been a long time. WENB hasn’t been in the rumour business for a while, and with the site going through a bit of a roller coaster these last few months it good to get back to basics. Getting the news first is what we thrive in, and it was something we managed do very well last year. With that in mind we’re happy to give you guys the latest teasing information coming from our friends in the industry regarding PES 2010. While we can’t name them officially, but everyone will know the guys who have helped the blog in the past and understand these people are to be listened to - especially as they were very critical of PES 2009.To simplify things, lets list them in bullet points:PES 2010 team will have 200 extra people working on the game New graphics and animation engine The Spanish La Liga license is back, amongst other lost licenses in the past The community mode is in Master League revamp The UEFA Europa License is a target 10 vs 10 online is a target For many the list is believable, but only in the sense that there’s many things on there that people expect. I haven’t contacted Konami UK over the list as they don’t respond to rumours, but I have managed to talk to other officials in Europe. Without being committal on anything specifically, there response added up to ‘Some are wrong, some are right, and some are below what we will achieve.’ The guy has obviously had some media training…We’ll have some more info very soon, but in the meantime lets appreciate the unappreciated Wii version of PES 2009. Released March 27th in Europe, we’ll have a review very soon.
PSM3: PES 2010 News Within WeeksGood old PSM3. Known friends/supporters of Konami, they support the series more than most these days. In the latest issue they not only have a fantastic feature on PES 2009, there’s also a hint at news coming regarding PES 2010. But we have to ask, who’s linking who? Released Thursday April 9th, the May issue of PSM3 certainly covers PES a great deal. Towards the rear of the magazine you can find an interesting and well delivered mini-feature on certain aspects of PES 2009. Primarily titled ‘The Best 25 Signings In Master League’, it also covers other aspects - like tips on how to score 1-on-1’s, to over/underrated stars in the game. But its the news in the front of the magazine that certainly will grab most readers attention. In the ‘Insider’ section it details the very same rumours that were launched by this site, without giving specific sources. The full paragraphs reads:Expect first details on Pro Evo 2010 within weeks - net rumours suggest a much-needed master league revamp, returning licenses (like La Liga) and an official UEFA Cup mode. We’re saying nothing, but brace for official confirmation soon.Reading that you can see why we’re asking who’s linking who, but the snippet of news certainly gets us excited. Knowing how the media world works, it obvious they know something about the upcoming PES 2010. Not being able to divulge the news officially, they’ve attached themselves to rumours just to have an excuse to report on it - and then add their own input. Because of this, the first and last sentences hold a lot of weight.Due to the huge excitement about the game from Konami UK, news within weeks is certainly believable.More news as we have it

PES Kick offWe've just finished the first PES2010 announcement, which I'm really pleased with, especially being able to mention so much so early. Plenty to talk about and plenty more to come! Before I get going with my first blog entry, just a brief intro. I've been at Konami for over 10 years. Life-long PES fan and for the past couple of years I've been PES Team Leader for Europe. Our focus from now on is to put the fans at the heart of everything. The process started before PES2009 even launched and I've been collecting feedback since from some really valuable sources. Huge thanks to the fan sites and journalists who've been providing excellent feedback. Understandably some of the comments I'vefed back to WEP have been negative and many users have questioned Konami's listening skills. My job this year and looking further into the future will be make sure the voices of our fans heard and push for their feedback to really impact on development. It won't happen over night, but I have to say that honestly I've been impressed with the way the team are listening.Jon Murphy
First Blog Entry from the PES TeamHi everyone.Welcome to the start of our PES blogs. Let me introduce myself. I'm Naoya Hatsumi, PES Producer and I'll be bringing you regular behind the scenes info on how we're getting on with PES2010.It's a bit manic at our Tokyo HQ at the moment. We've got short and long term plans for PES and Winning Eleven and for several months we've been reorganisinginternally to make sure our baby really grows. We've got different teams working on different aspects not only for 2010, but well beyond. We've got ideas how this needs to happen and thanks to feedback from Europe we know what is important to you. It's a great start but we have to keep the process going. So our first announcement is out. We've tried to give a good general overview to the development without giving everything away at once. We'll be adding more details and explaining improvements in greater depth in the coming months.Since the beginning of April, Tokyo has been enjoying cherry blossoms. If they had missed sunshine, rains and the chill of the Winter, they would not have come into flower. We've got the inputs for PES we need, which will take PES2010 into bloom this Autumn!Naoya Hatsumi
Messi brought to vivid life in PES 2010Konami showcases massively enhanced graphics engine asPES revamp continues apaceKonami Digital Entertainment GmbH has released the first in-game image of its forthcoming PES 2010 title, demonstrating the stunning new level of detail and graphical refinement the new game enjoys. The work in progress image shows cover star Lionel Messi in action in the new game, and showcase a massive advance in aesthetic detail. Crucial to the new game’s look are all-new dynamic lighting effects, where the position of the sun or the illumination from the floodlights is reflected in real time within the shadows cast both on the pitch, stadium, the ball and players. The newly-expanded Tokyo-based PES Productions team has also worked hard to create the most vivid player recreations to date. Player expressions are now fully implemented, while the level of detail has been extended to individual skin textures and different weaves for the various kits to mimic the breathable material so many manufacturers now use.Further details will be released in the coming weeks.
Konami Responds To Community ConcernsHere we have another sign that Konami are listening to the community. Fresh from the first screen of PES 2010, my sources recently responded to criticism about certain elements of the pictures, and tried to eradicate any concerns people may have. Clear proof that Konami care about what you think!First things first, lets get any incorrect perceptions about the picture out of the way. I’ve been reading some posts in forums around the world, and some less informed think the Messi screenshot is actually a render. The picture is, in simple terms, a screen grab. Along with WENB, the official PES blog posted the screen on its site. It was supposed to represent a member of the team in the development office taking an actual shot of the game and posting it up for the fans. No photoshopping, no picture enhancing, just a straight forward screen grab. The message is a simple one - Konami have nothing to hide.Onto the header of the post. The quality of the Barcelona emblem has many people wondering whether it’s just the faces that are getting the true next-gen treatment. The answer comes down to the development timeline, and scheduling certain aspects of the game by importance. The kits as a whole are worked on instantly, but the extra detail (badges, numbers etc) is put on last. Therefore the actual emblem in the screenshot is technically called a placeholder - something that’s there while they work on other things. This strengthens the claim that the screen really is a true depiction of the game in development - no target footage required. The final quality of the kits will match the incredible quality of Messi’s face. For a few that particular news will be most important, but most will see the bigger picture. For Konami to come out and respond to minor criticism in a screen shows a massive shift of emphasis, and their undying commitment to the community. In the the grand scheme of things, that is the real news.I want to say thank you to the guys at Konami who work so hard in making sure the community are heard, and in-turn answered! We look forward to the next few weeks in high anticipation. Make sure you’re a part of it!
My first go at PES2010!Back from Japan with nasty food poisoning but no bad taste in my mouth after I played the new PES!As a die-hard fan I am happy to report that 2010 is looking really promising. I was treated to some demos of what the new lighting, textures and animations are like and in my humble opinion the changes really made a big difference. Check out the first screenshot for yourself.got to see changes to the team first hand. Numbers have swelled and the WEP development area is now buzzing. I was also treated to a look at the newly formed "future development" department, but that is all very hush hush. Good to see the team really thinking about PES years from now.Seabass was also kind enough to give me a first hands-on with the gameplay, which is at a really early stage. It is going in the right direction for fans. Goals are harder to score, with less down to luck or mistakes. Support for the man with the ball is also better. I really like what they are doing with penalties and strategies too. So much I could talk about, but I want to keep my job. Finally, to all those with eagle eyes who spotted something on my screen during my last blog...can't say much more at the moment. We've already said the fan will be our focus this year and into the future. Hope to start proving that shortly.posted by Jon Murphy
